About Alpin Sherpa

Located in the centre of Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland, the Alpin Sherpa was built by mountain guide and skiing instructor Arnold Glatthard and named in honour of Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, one of the first 2 men on the summit of Mount Everest. The functionally furnished rooms at the Alpin Sherpa feature cable TV, a small safe, and a bathroom. Some rooms have a balcony. Free WiFi is available at the reception and in the lounge. The Sherlock Holmes Museum and Meiringen Train Station are within 200 metres. The Meiringen-Hasliberg Cable Car is a 10-minute walk away. Restaurants, shops, and many leisure facilities are within a 5-minute walk.

Nette Dame im Frühstücksraum gab freundlich Auskunft - Frühstück nicht berauschend, aber OK
Abgewohnt, Fahrstuhl außer Betrieb, Treppenhaus muffig, Lüftung im Bad ausgeschaltet - Hotel macht "sterbenden" Eindruck - für Ausblick auf den Hof eines Baustoffhandels kann Hotel nichts...

Overall it covered our needs.

We were allowed to take our race bikes to the room. Bed mattress was good. Location was convenient. Nice view from the balcony.
Bathroom could need an update. No wifi in room.

Das Zimmer war eigentlich völlig in Ordnung, den Preis von 380 Franken für zwei Nächte war es aber dann doch nicht wert.

Alpenbrevet cyclists well looked after

I stayed for one night for the famous cycling event, the Alpenbrevet, the hotel was full of cyclists. The staff went to every effort to cater for the needs of us cyclists, including providing a 5am breakfast (with spaghetti!) on the morning of the event, and made showers available afterwards. All was done in a most friendly and welcoming manner. Thank you, it is highly appreciated.
Some of the fittings in the showers need attention, e.g. leaking water and shower head won't stay where you put it.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Ich war in der Nacht vor dem Alpenbrevet Gast in diesem Hotel. Das Hotel hat seinen Service perfekt auf dieses Event ausgerichtet (frühes und reichhaltiges Morgenessen, früher Checkout, Rennrad im Zimmer etc.). Parkplatz in der Tiefgarage, zentrale Lage.
Zimmer war altmodisch eingerichtet resp. "in die Jahre gekommen", WLAN-Empfang nur in der Lobby

Das Hotel lebt in seinem 80 er Jahre - Grove vor sich hin. Nostalgie ist ja gut und recht, aber dann müsste man diesen Stil echt pflegen oder den Sprung ins 21. Jahrhundert machen ...

The staff is superb, especially front desk. I stayed at this hotel during August (summer). The hotel is an excellent location - perfect to explore Interlaken as well as some of the alpine passes. The amenities and breakfast are basic but it really is all that is needed. You should be spending most of your time exploring the area - not your room :) Would definitely stay here again.
WiFi might be spotty in some rooms - but I hardly needed to use it.

Viaje inolvidable

Desayuno muy completo. Muy cerca de las maravillas de la naturaleza que tiene Suiza. El Aarsluch cerquísima, la Reichenbach también, Está la estación de tren que te lleva a Interlaken en 30 min por si no quieres coger el coche y a otros lugares de interés. Hay funiculares y telesillas por todos los sitios. En 40 minutos llegas al Glaciar del Ródano, El Fulkepass y muchas más cosas.

Parking sur 2 étages avec une seule issue. Moquette usée. Salle de bain vieillotte. Buffet petit déjeuner choix vite fait, sans plus. Femme de ménage vient tapper à la porte à 9H00 pour faire la chambre, alors que nous dormons encore. Il faut une heure pour remplir la baignoire. Pas de climatisation. Mauvaise insonorisation. Pas de lumière à l'entrée de la chambre. Personne ne remplace l'ampoule. Bruit dans les corridors ainsi qu'à l'extérieur. Sans climatisation, nous devons laisser la fenêtre ouverte.

La situation de l’établissement, bien centré à Meiringen.
L’accueil était nul car inexistant, très grave pour un hôtel ! La qualité du petit déjeuner très standard comme on en trouve partout en Europe dans des grandes chaînes d'hôtels... quelconque ! La salle de bain qui aurait un urgent besoin de rénovation, à la limite de la salubrité !
