Thoroughly enjoyed our short holiday in Castlemaine. What a lovely town, with lots to do and see.

4.80/5.0
Julia was extremely welcoming and very helpful. Location of the accommodation was perfect and an easy walk to the train station.
Planned renovations will only add to the comfort of the cottage's interior.

Best cafe in Castlemaine

4.60/5.0
The staff were excellent, the food at the cafe was exceptional and the the room was spotless. 5 minutes walk to the heart of town.
Limited parking. But it's worth the inconvenience.

Great Location, lovely stay

3.95/5.0
Loved the location, bath and continental breakfast - especially as there was various yoghurts on offer and one with no added sugar.
It was a bit loud on a Sat night with the pub across the street.

Quaint B&B and cafe in a great location but sleep disturbed by noisy truck

4.60/5.0
Bed was comfortable. The unit was warm and well located. Lovely little attached café with generous and helpful staff. Didn't have time to partake of offer of coffee and cake-will do so next time.
TV was too small to read subtitles. Pity the IGA delivery truck arrived next door at an ungodly hour and left motor running for at least 30 min.

The breakfast was great and (gluten free) we were well looked after, the decor was cheery and the friendly staff. Complimentary morning tea before we left was lovely.

Passable

2.50/5.0
Location and quietness.
No communication that the café was closed for ease of locating the property. Street signage for this street is poor, along with how to meet for key collection given my earlier communication on arriving at 11.30am which was responded to. A friendly cleaner let me in but had to ring the owner to find out the apartment as not detailed in the diary. I apparently should have also received communication about finer details WIFI address etc, where the keys would be in, off street parking etc and I didn't get this info. Breakfast was misleading given the model with the adjoining café. Whilst the cafe was closed - trading hours should have been spelled out given I arrived on a Sunday morning. The cafe imagery is used to profile the property + its the brand name. Happy to pay more for breakfast in the café or explanation and option based on its trading days. Room - very tired, needs a re paint and re furbish. No table to eat breakfast ( other than a small round coffee table which is too small with only one chair of the right height). Not suitable to work from either. Breakfast /kitchen facilities area needs better lighting - really dark and high above cobwebs. Breakfast offering good - great butter, local juices and selection of breads.

It was a pleasant stay.

Yes, bed was warm and comfy and had plenty of bedding, for the cold weather in Castlemaine.
Small tv, a small table for having breakfast would be nice.

Acceptable.

3.35/5.0
Excellent bed and shower
No table on which to work or read a paper. There is a very small writing desk with a chair that is too big for it, so you can't actually sit at it. Be aware the cafe is not open on Sundays, so no hot breakfast.

It was very cold, heater was inefficient, bathroom had no heating at all, problems with TV remote (on button on remote didn't work).

Great location and comfortable

3.95/5.0
Very comfortable bed, great location - the Railway Hotel nearby is a must for food. We really appreciated the continental breakfast. We arrived after a long mountain bike cycle and it was great to have the front yard to safely store our bikes.
TV is tiny - hard to see from the bed.

As Comfy As Ever

5.00/5.0
This was the first time I've stayed in the cottage since it has changed hands and it's as lovely as ever. Julia is a friendly and welcoming host. The pastries and breakfast supplies were great. Fresh coffee, a selection of teas and jams, toast and cereal were all on offer. But nothing quite beats a soak in the claw foot bath at the end of the day. The heater was on when I arrived and the cottage is toasty warm even in winter.

Charming little cottage. Clean and peaceful. The owners were obliging and went out of their way to provide a gluten free breakfast. I've recommended this stay to family and friends and we intend to return.

Our stay was a night away so we could ride the steam train

5.00/5.0
The peace and quiet of the location and the security.. Close to the shops so walking was easy..
It was old so had squeaky floor boards but other than that it was ok.. Only thing missing was enough sugar and coffee and normal tea...

Great stopover!

4.80/5.0
It was wonderfully warm when we arrived which was great because it was after dark. The instructions to get the key were clear and we had no problems. The room was lovely and surprisingly big. We were able to walk to dinner.
There was a large noise at about 6am which sounded like the kitchen but wasn't - might have been the neighbours. The bedhead and side tables were a single item which rocked when you lent against it to read a book.

You cant read a book by it's cover.

3.55/5.0
Loved the comfortable bed and bath. Had a hot bath to warm up, jumped into bed because the room was cold.
We booked in expecting to have the experience of the pastry and coffee shop next door as stated by previous reviews. In our planned week trip visiting country Victoria we wanted to experience the nature of different accommodation. We found the shop was closed and has been taken over by a new owner. Nice room but no character, except for the beautiful floor boards. For the price you would expect that it would have better heating, and it was a cold night. It had a wall heater that lacked any direct heat and half of that was hidden by the old sofa. The attached shop was being renovated by the new owners, hence I am sure that is why the cottage and its occupants were not of any importance at that time. I am sure when it is finished it will be fantastic. Just inform your clients beforehand that all is not what is stated in the information provided.
