very poor breakfast, Stairs uncomfortable and not safe for older people

The room was very small and in particular the bed was set in a way (horizontally next to the window) which for a two-persons stay was quite uncomfortable. Temperatures had already lowered a lot but the heating in the room was not yet working/available. The bathroom's ventilation was not working and also due to the self-closing door it was very unpractical to stay in it. The breakfast was quite low quality and the staff wasn't very helpful in providing clean cups and other stuff.

Although the beds were comfortable, we had a twin room and the beds were extremely narrow and high up the ground. I am only 4ft 9 and even I kept banging my head against the window shutters when I turned in bed during the night.

für zwei Personen ist das Zimmer schon sehr klein; das Bad ist so winzig, dass man sich auch alleine darin kaum bewegen kann; wir waren allerdings zu dritt mit unserem Sohn (16), der auf einem 70 cm breiten Schlafsofa nächtigen musste (glücklicherweise ist er sehr schlank!); und das alles zu einem sehr stolzen Preis, daher u.E. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis für das Dreibettzimmer nicht ok!!!; das Frühstück war ok, in der Hauptandrangzeit aber auch hier sehr voll und eng

The beds were two singles. They were high up from the ground and very very narrow. Both my wife and I were worried that if we rolled over we would fall out. Thank God it did not happen. If we stay there again we would have to go for a double bed.

Room was very hot but we were given a fan which was nice. Breakfast was very busy on the Sunday, it felt quite hectic and there weren't any cups or milk left, very minor issues.

Beds were a bit odd, I didn't mind but my husband had trouble sleeping.

Auswahl und Geschmack des Frühstücks waren nicht gut. Zimmer eng, Bad: Müll vom Vorgänger - Dusche und Waschbecken hatten Lecks. Matratze sehr weich. Sehr schmales Doppelbett.

Room smelly

In the rooms at the back of the hotel you are woken at 7am by the staff using rubbish bins and laundry trolleys in the back yard. Soundproofing is not good in the rooms. Would want a room at the front and away from bar/reception.

We were there in a warm spell but the room had no air con and was very stuffy. A fan was supplied but just pushed around hot air.

Noisy, couldnt sleep at all until 4 and then only until 8 in the morning. Staff was not very nice, tried to order food from the bar in the evening because my wife was sleeping in our room (because of the lack of sleep the night before) and there was no food on the menu they could make, they offered to heat some craccers with spread on cheese. Allthough, while i settled for a Tea, another woman came by ten minutes later and then the kitchen was suddenly open, they offered her a toast. When asking about this I got a really rude response (and no apology) and they talked me down in dutch (yes, i do also speak dutch even if my english is better!) Also staff had smokingquarters just outside both the rooms we had, even when we tried to open the window for some fresh air and the girl clearly saw it, she lit up her cigarette. I really regret putting our money into a stay at this hotel. You really need to improve on your staff.

The hotel is perfectly OK, but expensive. Maybe everywhere is expensive in Amsterdam!
