A great hotel, great rooms & staff

Very nice reception girl, who was professional yet really friendly. I received an upgrade the room was lovely
The radiator in the bathroom didn't work. Furthermore no parking

Lovely room very quiet on a night. Clean and comfortable. Excellent location. Staff friendly
Breakfast should be included in the price.

Staff very helpful and polite. Location for nightlife excellent, but just far enough out to be lovely and quiet. Quality installation to bathroom. Super clean. River Dee and access to roman walls on your doorstep.
Our room (Room 2) adjacent to both storage rooms for laundry and cleaning materials. Arrived at 3pm to bags of laundry outside our room and both storage area doors open. Felt like we were based in the service areas, not the main hotel! Again, came back to this view following breakfast the next morning. Floor of room on a distinct slant. Appreciate this is a very old building, but negotiating what felt like a 1:6 gradient after a fun filled night out precarious to say the least. However, all in all a beautiful hotel and lovely staff, just think we drew the short straw with Room 2

Ok for one night !

Location to Chester centre. Cleanliness of room.
No breakfast in price. Although clean, room was very small. Only light in the room was 1 small table lamp. Poor girl had to do reception then jump behind the bar, ok as it was quiet, throw a few customers wanting to book in plus get a drink diff story!!

Staff were attentive, informative and very friendly

Excellent location, would definitely come back

The lady on reception was super helpful and just lovely. Fab location in the city but quiet at night so I had a great sleep.
Minor details here but a hairdryer would have been nice!

Reasonable value for a good location but that's about it

Location perfect, quite good value
Room wasn't ready and the people before had been charged extra to stay later but then we were not able to access our room until 5 because of that fact. Beds were tiny. Some damage to furniture. Bedside lamp not working. No info about breakfast options. Paper thin walls and floors.

Parking in a NCP car park is extortionate.

Location and comfort

Great for the weekend

Room was a good size and the beds were very good, well positioned for the race course and bars both just a few minutes away, staff were very friendly and helpful and they have a baggage room so you can enjoy every minute of your trip.
For the price we paid we couldn't grumble, very good for the weekend, possibly could of had an iron in the room. They might have one at reception but we didn't ask.

Very good

Extremely comfortable beds.
We were situated on the top floor which had no lift and was a number of stairs which was a lot with bags.

The location was good
Room 18

Only good for location!

Location was good for town, shopping, food etc
NO fault of, we rang the hotel to check all 4 rooms our party had booked and confirmed ok twice, then a change happened to one room booking and email sent to confirm all sorted, I also upgraded my room, then at reception it changed again and my room upgrade was given to another member of our party due to the hotels mistake with there booking dates with no apology, the room we got was small and shower room was tiny! Bed very uncomfortable as 2 beds pushed together to be classed as double room! Overpriced for room size! Would not stay again!

Pleasant stay. Staff very friendly. Location was perfect.

Only continental food? Would of preferred proper English breakfast like sausage bacon and eggs!

Should be advertised as a hostel.

Location is excellent
Staff said hello, very little else. No information at all regarding breakfast, timings, facilities etc. Breakfast... no milk, only enough coffee for one that was like treacle. Staff having a cigarette outside rather than explain breakfast or ask if we needed anything. Gave back the key and wasn't asked if we'd enjoyed our stay or if everything had been ok, staff were beyond disinterested. This place really felt like a hostel, shame as the location is great.

never had brecky only cold items
no cooked brecky

Excellent Place to stay..

We did not have breakfast

Rooms were very overpriced for their level

Sep, 21, 2016

Staff were brilliant and the room was spectacular
Nothing I loved everything about the place

Sep, 20, 2016

No better than many at half the price.

Situation OK Receptionist was pleasant.
Room not ready by 5pm Parking difficult Decor similar to Premier Inn but priced three times more. Breakfast minimum standard, stale packed croissant, tinned grapefruit or peaches. Pokey area for making toast. Coffee stewed.

Adequate but no award

The hotel's position is good with easy access to the town centre/restaurants/bars
Relatively small room, just accommodated two beds. Condition adequate rather than smart. Door in the corridor did not appear to have an effective door closer and so slammed shut whenever anyone went through it. No cooked breakfast offered, just toast and croissants etc
