Probably the best hotel we ever stayed in. The food was like a five star resturant, the staff were amazing and the room was just great. Highly recommended!

Good

3.75/5.0
Location is good and service was good. I recall my first stay was even better experience
The dinner venue for the group was strangely creepy this time round. We entered a proper western style, which we didn't ask for, dining room with no lights except for one candle burning. We expected to be in a Japanese style dining room. Food served was far better during my first experience. The inn redeemed themselves as breakfast was good.

A magical Japanese experience

5.00/5.0
We liked everything! The rooms were lovely. Ours had a view over the river and temple. The food was magnificent- almost too beautifully presented to eat. Our children were less comfortable with the Japanese menu, and were accommodated very well. The gardens were beautiful. The onsen was lovely. Very clean and well presented, well stocked with everything you needed, and a lovely place to relax.
A choice of pillows would have been nice.

Esperienza inimmaginabile. Un riokan da provare

4.80/5.0

A memorable stay.

4.60/5.0
Service is impeccable and the hotel is beautifully decorated. Dinner & breakfast are absolutely delicious. On the evening between 6:00-7:00 pm, hotel put flower petals into the hot spring for the ladies and complimentary sake. Another very thoughtful service is offering guests a short ride after dinner to the nearby river bank where line of cherry blossoms trees are lit up by light. A breath taking view.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

4.80/5.0
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Staff were all very friendly, welcoming and professional. We visited during Takayama spring festival, and the hotel arranged for early dinner and transportation to and from the evening parade for all guests, a terrific service. The host also assisted us in arranging a last minute rental car for the next day, which gave us all the freedom to visit the surrounding area, again a service very much appreciated. The two different suites we stayed in were spacious, comfortable and with a great private onsen to relax in after a day of sightseeing. Highly recommended.
Though understandable, comfort and service do come at a price.

Beautiful Japanese experience

4.80/5.0
A fabulous Japanese experience. Comes highly recommended if you want to experience real Japanese food, culture, onsen and living. The small town is also superb and only 20 minutes away from the relative hubbub of Takayama. We will make a return visit for sure.
You cannot fault this place!

Exquisite

5.00/5.0
Exquisite! The best experience of the real and traditional Japon. The staff is extremely kind. The old wooden house itself is full of charm. The room (though individual) is huge, equipped with tatami, wide window on the river and the closely temple. The Rotemburo (exterior bath) is a unique experience in one's life. I could enjoy it alone and under the snow ... The commun room is extremely cute (see pictures). Then comes the food (in a small room with view on an inner garden): refined, full of different subtle tastes ... That might seem a bit expensive, but it is actually an very deal for such a wonderful experience.
(Some might say that not everyone among the staff speaks perfectly English. Yes, and? We are in countryside of Japan and a smile, a few gestures and we understand each other.)
